Faber & Faber will host a Lord of the Flies (Faber & Faber) exhibition at its new offices in The Bindery at 51 Hatton Garden.
"Then & Now: Lord of the Flies at Seventy" will run from 11th to 25th September 2024 in the The Bindery’s gallery. Curated in partnership with Chris Walker, the exhibition delves behind the scenes of the publication story of William Golding’s classic, featuring Aimée de Jongh’s original artwork for the graphic-novel adaptation.
It will be open to the public between 9am and 5pm on weekdays. There will also be a special event on 18th September, at which the author’s daughter Judy Golding will discuss the novel and its legacy with de Jongh.
Faber Members has also released its first tranche of autumn events to be hosted at The Bindery. The programme includes events with David Peace for Munichs (Faber & Faber), a book club on Sally Rooney’s Normal People (Faber & Faber) led by Alex Peake-Tomkinson, as well as Hanif Kureishi on The Buddha of Suburbia (Faber & Faber) and Francis Spufford in conversation with Rebecca Watson about Golden Hill (Faber & Faber). Further highlights include an evening with Sir Antonio Pappano, as well as Christopher Reid and Jane Feaver in conversation about Seamus Heaney’s letters.
There will be a Halloween screening of Jaume Collet-Serra’s film "Orphan", chosen and introduced by Anna Bogutskaya, to mark the publication of Feeding the Monster: Why Horror Has a Hold On Us (Faber & Faber), for which guests will be invited to dress up. Partner events include Louise Doughty and Charlotte Vassell at Waterstones in Newcastle, in a collaboration with New Writing North.
