Faber has announced "Sara & Cariad’s Weirdos Book Club", a podcast hosted by authors and comedians Sara Pascoe and Cariad Lloyd. The new series will be produced by Plosive, marking the publication of Pascoe’s debut novel, Weirdo.
Joined by fellow writers and comedians, Pascoe and Lloyd will discuss a "special, stimulating and weird" book each week. The first episode will be available to download on 24th August, and the selected books will be announced before each episode.
Pascoe and Lloyd will present a live edition of the podcast at a special event on 6th September at 21Soho, for which tickets are available now.
Pascoe said: "Cariad and I have had so many interesting conversations about books that were ’wasted’ because no one else was even listening. That mistake is now rectified."
Lloyd added: "I am delighted to finally be combining my favourite topics: books, weirdos, chatting, podcasts and Sara Pascoe and cannot wait for everyone to hear how much Sara and I like talking about reading."
Faber has launched its press campaign for Weirdo, ahead of publication on 14th September. Pascoe will be speaking at Edinburgh International Festival on 19th August, followed by an tour around the UK on publication, including Chester Storyhouse, Waterstones, Mr B’s and Bath Festival, Henley and Hastings.
Faber’s "superlead" marketing campaign kicked off at its spring party, where attendees heard a preview ahead of the announcement. Faber is also working with bookshops on installations bringing the duvet illustration from the cover to life.
Marketing director Katie Hall commented: "Getting the chance to hear from Sara about what she’s reading has always been a perk of working on her books, and I’m delighted everyone else gets to experience this now too, with the brilliant Cariad Lloyd on board to boot. It’s a joy to be able to embrace our love of books, weirdos, and bookish weirdos in the campaign for Sara’s wonderful debut novel."
