Production company Fane has acquired book subscription service LoveMyRead, just months after launching its own subscription service with Pandora Sykes.
LoveMyRead was formed in September 2020 by entrepreneurs Michael Foster and Tom Walker to provide a direct link between UK publishers and consumers. It delivers the month’s newest releases straight to subscribers’ homes along with treats from partner brands. The service peaked at 2,000 monthly subscribers in December 2021 after just 15 months of trading.
Fane says as a result of the acquisition it can provide a “fully rounded offer to adults and children through curated booklists, engaged online communities and accompanying reader events”.
The subscription service will continue to operate under the LoveMyRead brand, with the team at Fane working closely with Vicki Perrin, head of books at LoveMyRead, to deliver its subscription package to customers. The next set of guest curators will be announced this autumn, following on from a list that has included Malorie Blackman, Candice Brathwaite, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Dr Hazel Wallace and Caitlin Moran.
This announcement coincides with Fane’s move to new offices in Bloomsbury, housing a state-of-the-art production studio on-site where Fane TV events can be recorded, and its lease of a dedicated north London warehouse for book distribution.
Alex Fane, m.d. at Fane Productions, said: “There is such great synergy here: Fane and LoveMyRead were founded to provide direct access to talent for consumers and to showcase the very best on offer from publishers. After a record year for our business, we’re thrilled to be able to add LoveMyRead to our offering. We can’t wait to explore the myriad opportunities this acquisition presents for the talent and publishers we work with.”
Tom Walker, c.e.o. at LoveMyRead, added: “We founded LoveMyRead to give consumers the chance to discover the newest, most exciting books published each year. After an incredible year and a half, we knew it was time to find someone to elevate LoveMyRead further still. We couldn’t think of a better home for our business as it enters its next phase. Stories have the power to change lives, and we believe Fane provides a platform for LoveMyRead to reach more people than ever.”
