Farshore has retained its position as the UK’s number one publisher in the annuals category for the fifth year running.
Bookscan data shows Farshore achieved nine of the top 20 titles in the category for the week ending 2nd December with a 35% share of the market and 39% by volume.
Farshore publishes a range of annuals in partnership with brands including Minecraft, Disney, Pokémon, and classic brands like Rupert the Bear and Thomas & Friends. Farshore’s annuals selection also includes a selection of unofficial annuals, including 100% Unofficial Roblox and 100% Unofficial Fortnite.
This year, Farshore added Adopt Me! to its annuals line-up, as well as a special Disney 100 Celebration Annual to mark 100 years of magical Disney memories.
Next year, Farshore will be adding Sonic the Hedgehog to its official annuals range, following its recent acquisition of publishing rights to the popular gaming and entertainment brand.
The publisher said that gaming annuals continue to deliver strong performance in the market with Farshore’s Pokémon Annual 2024 achieving sales of over 43,000 this year to date while it said Minecraft is the number one gaming brand in the market in the UK, selling over 8 million copies since launch.
Publishing director John Packard said: “Farshore is pleased to deliver this result for the 5th year running. Like many people in the UK, we grew up getting annuals every Christmas. It is a real testament to the format’s enduring appeal that the category has been so successful down the generations.”
