The Frankfurt Book Fair is having a structural revamp over the next two years with a new home for the rights and licenses business and a new space for consumers with new enticements for the general public.
In 2019 the literary agents and scouts centre moving to the “Festhalle”, near the City entrance to the fair, while Hall 6.3 becomes a technical control centre inaccessible to customers.
The following year, the international exhibitors from Hall 5 will move to Hall 4, as Hall 5 will be taken down and rebuilt until 2023. Hall 1 will be added in 2020 with “a striking new glass front facing the city”, the fair organisers said. The new hall will become part of “an attractive area” that includes special interest formats geared towards the general public on the weekend. This will also encompass the Agora, the Forum, and Hall 3.
A flyer distributed with the press release details the changes planned.
This year, the fair runs from 10th to 14th October.
Next year the fair will take place from 16th to 20th October and in 2020 it will run between 14th and 18th October.
It is the international publishing industry’s biggest trade fair welcoming around 286,000 visitors each year.
