Luxury catering company Feast and Waterstones Tottenham Court Road (TCR) have teamed up to present a four-part seasonal series of literary-inspired supper clubs.
Seasonal Feasts From Fiction is created by award-winning food writers, cooks and friends, Olivia Potts and Kate Young, author of The Little Library Cookbook (Anima). Each supper club in the quarterly series will be inspired by a different novel from various eras and continents, and will take place in Waterstones TCR’s basement bar.
The inaugural Summer dinner is inspired by Elizabeth Jane Howard's seminal book series The Cazalet Chronicles. Guests will receive an elderflower cocktail on arrival, a menu themed around an English country garden, with conversation and quotes from her classic novels.
October will see a game-filled autumnal feast inspired by Roald Dahl’s Danny the Champion of the World (Puffin); Chinese New Year in late January will be celebrated with the dim sum of Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club (Vintage); and spring will bring the Florentine sunshine of E M Forster’s A Room With A View.
Young writes the Novel Recipes column for The Guardian, and Potts is The Spectator’s Vintage Chef columnist.
Potts and Young said: “We're thrilled to be collaborating with the team at Waterstones TCR and have the opportunity to host suppers celebrating four books we love so much. We've had such fun planning four seasonal menus, and are delighted to be starting with the Cazalet Chronicles, a series so close to our hearts.”
Rosie Beaumont-Thomas, events manager at Waterstones TCR, added: “Having collaborated with Kate on our first ever supper club at TCR last year, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her and Olivia’s passion and culinary excellence— we know that this partnership is going to be really special”.
