Transworld has announced a raft of promotions across the fiction and non-fiction editorial teams, with Finn Cotton promoted to editorial director at Bantam.
The publisher described Cotton as “a key voice on the commercial crime and thriller team at Transworld". His acquisitions include Denzil Meyrick’s Murder at Holly House and Orlando Murrin’s Knife Skills for Beginners. Transworld said: “Finn’s management and editorial expertise has taken Andrea Mara’s publishing to the next level with No.1 Irish Times and Kindle bestseller No One Saw a Thing, Transworld’s bestselling 2023 trade paperback in Ireland with more than 100,000 copies across all editions.”
Imogen Nelson, who “publishes Lesley Kara and Catherine Ryan Howard with verve and energy”, is promoted to Bantam’s senior commissioning editor. The publisher said she had made significant acquisitions in lead debut launch When We Were Silent by Fiona McPhillips, significant US pre-empt Sweet Fury (2025) and the world all-language rights acquisition of Spellbound (2025).
Lara Stevenson is promoted to commissioning editor at Bantam. Recent high-profile acquisitions include three books from Hannah Nicole Maehrer (Assistant to the Villain) and two from Rosie Hewlett, whose Medea “is shaping up to be a standout publication in the spring”.
In non-fiction, Lucy Oates is promoted to editorial director. Her recent publications include The Success Myth by Emma Gannon, The Art of Clear Thinking by Hasard Lee, Happy High Status by Viv Groskop and A Purposeful Life by Dawn Butler.
Sharika Teelwah is promoted to commissioning editor. She arrived through the Penguin Scheme in September 2018 “and quickly made herself an indispensable member of the non-fiction team”, Transworld said. Her acquisition of bestseller Abroad In Japan by Chris Broad “has been a phenomenon” according to the publisher, selling more than 60,000 copies across formats.
