Firefly Press buys gothic Christmas story

Welsh independent Firefly Press has bought world rights to The Clockwork Crow, a gothic Christmas tale set in a Victorian mansion, by Catherine Fisher.

“Catherine is a world-class author and we are delighted to be publishing this wonderfully imagined story for Christmas,” said Firefly Press publisher and editor Penny Thomas. “Magical snowfalls are a key part of this story, and we’re only slightly concerned that every time we have worked on the novel so far this year it has started to snow.”

Thomas struck the deal directly with Fisher, who is a poet and author and was Wales’s first Young People’s Laureate in 2011-2013.

The Clockwork Crow will publish in October.
