Richard Fisher has joined the Boydell & Brewer EOT board as non-executive chair from the beginning of April.
Fisher had a long career at Cambridge University Press, which ended when he stood down as managing director of Academic Publishing in 2014. He has recently completed two four-year terms as a non-executive director of Edinburgh UP, and as a trustee and then correspondent with a monthly blog.
He commented: "I am delighted to be working with Boydell & Brewer as chair of the B&B Employee Ownership Trust. I have long admired both the publisher and the ownership model, and I look forward greatly to working with the employee trustees and their colleagues in the months and years to come."
Employee trustees, Caroline Palmer and Rohais Landon, said: "We are delighted that Richard will be joining us on the trust board. His wide-ranging experience of publishing and the world of scholarly communication will be invaluable to us as we work to ensure the success of the trust for the benefit of the employees and the firm more widely."
James Powell, c.e.o. of Boydell & Brewer group board, added: "Richard’s knowledge of publishing and the business of publishing is a very welcome asset. We have been employee-owned for seven years and our status has enabled a high-level of transparency and staff engagement, but we know we have more to learn and achieve as we grow the company."
