An event billed as “the world’s smallest publisher fair” is opening next month, featuring seven indie UK presses, including flipped eye publishing, Les Fugitives, Rough Trade Books and Repeater Books.
The Uncorrected Independent Publishers’ Fair, launched by Tangerine Press, will take place on 11th June at Peckham Pelican, London, as part of the Camberwell Arts Festival.
Other presses including Prototype, which specialises in fiction, poetry and interdisciplinary projects, and Strange Attractor will also be showcasing their books.
Events will kick off at 11am. Authors from all seven presses including Erica Van Horn (Les Fugitives), Astrid Alben (Prototype) and Arianna Reiche (Tangerine Press) will be reading from their books, while Unexplained podcast host and creator Richard MacLean Smith will perform a live reading of mystery episode “Hexham Heads”, which recounts strange events in 1970s Northumberland.
In the late afternoon, there will be an acoustic set by the alternative indie UK-based band Lilies in my Brain. The fair is free and open to all, and books will available to purchase from all the publishers.
Founder of Tangerine Press Michael Curran said: “It’s wonderful to be back at the Peckham Pelican with the Uncorrected Independent Publishers’ Fair for the first time since 2019. We have seven of the best indie presses in the country all under one roof in relaxed surroundings. It isn’t a stuffy hall. You can order a beer, chill out and listen to the readings from authors and poets representing each of the publishers.”
