Emilia Fox is to read the audiobook of Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason, publishing with Weidenfeld & Nicolson in February.
Described as "spiky, sharp and told with heart-breaking tenderness", Sorrow and Bliss is about modern love and the confusing, sad aches of mental illness.
Paul Stark, senior audio manager, said he was "so pleased" to have Fox on board to narrate, explaining: "She’s one of the best readers in the business and her voice suits the book’s beautiful writing perfectly."
Mason added: "As an author, it is a relief to feel that your work is safe in the hands of a chosen narrator, but it is rare and wonderful to know, utterly as I do with Emilia Fox, that your work is going to gain so much from their talent and unique, thoughtful interpretation of the story and its characters. I feel immensely lucky, and so excited for readers who come to Sorrow and Bliss this way."
Fox is best known for her role as Dr Nikki Alexander in BBC’s "Silent Witness", having started her career in BBC adaptations such as "Pride and Prejudice" and ITV's "Rebecca". Earlier this year, she also starred as Valerie Hobson in "The Trial of Christine Keeler" for the BBC. She is currently filming the new series of "Silent Witness" for the BBC and presenting "In the Footsteps of Killers" for Channel 4. Both are due out in spring 2021.
Sorrow and Bliss will be published by W&N in audio digital download and export trade paperback on 9th February 2021, and in hardback on 10th June 2021.
