Three roles in the Foyles buying team are understood to have been made redundant in recent weeks as the Waterstones-owned mini-chain moves over to Waterstones buying practices following an "extensive review" of the Foyles business.
Waterstones has confirmed that one category buyer has left the company. The Bookseller understands that two others have been given alternative positions. Jasper Sutcliffe's role remains head of buying at Foyles.
A spokeswoman for Waterstones told The Bookseller: "The buying process for Foyles will be the same as for Hatchards and Hodges Figgis. The initial new title buying is done centrally and a bespoke layer of ordering placed on top of this by the Foyles team.
"Most of the Foyles buying team are taking on new roles within the business. One person from the team has left the business alongside the redundancies of a small number of back office roles."
