Broadcaster Jonathan Fryer and columnist and human rights campaigner Joan Smith have been re-elected to the board of the Authors’ Licensing and Collections Society (ALCS).
Both have sat on the ALCS board before, with Fryer was first elected in 2014 and Smith serving two terms from 2010 – 2016. Both will now serve three year terms on the ALCS board.
Fryer is the author of 15 non-fiction books and a freelance writer, lecturer and broadcaster working mainly for the BBC and Middle Eastern television channels.
Smith is a novelist, columnist and campaigner for human rights who has published six novels and written for many national newspapers, including The Times and The Guardian.
ALCS chair Tony Bradman said: “I’m delighted to welcome both Jonathan and Joan back to the ALCS board of directors and look forward to working with them both over the next three years. They both bring with them a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for working for the benefit of writers and they’ll be a fantastic asset to ALCS.”
ALCS is owned by its members and collects money due for secondary uses of writers’ work.
