The Future Worlds Prize is increasing the prize pot for 2024, with the winner now receiving £4,500, up from £4,000 in previous years.
The runners-up prize also increases from £2,000 to £2,500. The remaining six shortlisted writers will each receive £850, up from £800.
The prize aims to find new talent based in the UK writing in the SFF space and is funded by author Ben Aaronovitch and actor Adjoa Andoh.
This year’s judges are 2021 winner M H Ayinde, novelist Isabelle Dupuy, quantum physicist turned bestselling author Femi Fadugba, literary agent and founder of Originate Literary Agency Natalie Jerome and Arthur C Clarke Award winner Tade Thompson.
This year’s prize closes for entries at 23:59 on Monday 29th January 2024.
All eight shortlisted writers will receive mentoring from one of the prize’s publishing partners: Bloomsbury, Gollancz, Hodderscape, Orbit and Tor.
