Gary Budden is relaunching Influx Press with 12 new titles, as well as a new look and logo.
The press has started a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of raising £20,000 towards the relaunch, and 55 supporters have donated £2,862 to date.
Budden founded Influx with Kit Caless in 2011, and the press since published well-known titles like Eliza Clark’s Boy Parts, Eley Williams’ James Tait Black-winning Attrib, and Percival Everett’s Booker Prize-shortlisted The Trees.
Co-founder Caless stepped back from running the business in 2023 to pursue a new career and academic interests. The publisher had scaled back its publishing programme since November 2022 but ended its acquisitions hiatus earlier this year.
New titles are scheduled for 2024, including Nour Abi-Nakhoul’s Supplication, Elizabeth Hand’s Generation Loss and Paola Ferrante’s Her Body Among Animals.
Operations will fully resume in 2025, with the 2025 list including books like Adam Scovell’s Local Haunts, Elizabeth Hand’s Available Dark and Mariah Stovall’s I Love You So Much It’s Killing Us Both, among various other titles.
“I’m extremely proud of our 2025 list, carrying on our commitment to publishing bold, exciting literature," Budden said. "With a brand-new look and direction for the press, this Kickstarter campaign is enabling Influx to resume its role as one of the UK’s most innovative independent publishers.”
