Litalist has appointed former m.d. of Bertrams Marc Dubery as head of trade sales.
In his new role he will take overall responsibility for expanding the network of independent bookshops. The book recommendation platform was launched in December 2021 by Seni Glaister, co-founder and former chief executive of The Book People.
Dubery, who left Bertrams in 2018 after four years, said: “This is a great opportunity to link to the wider consumer base who are keen to pass on their recommendations and get more ideas on the best books to read. It is also great to link this to local book stores who will be able to supply books directly to these customers. I’m already working with bookshops across the country and have recently added 2022 country and regional Nibbie winners Bookbugs and Dragon Tales and Edinburgh Bookshop to the platform. I’d urge booksellers to get in touch with me so they can help us build the best possible solution for readers and booksellers alike."
According to Glaister, since its launch in January, more than 3,000 shelves have been added to Litalist by readers, authors, bloggers and bookshops.
“We’re really excited that people are using it as we’d intended: to share the books they feel most passionately about and to make sure those books find their way into the hands of other readers," she said.
“We are determined to make Litalist an irresistible solution for booksellers. As such, we’re taking a collaborative view and have already deployed new site development suggested by our brilliant indie network. Our goal is to ensure that no customer is further than 20 miles from the book they want, and we’re delighted Marc has joined us to help make that goal a reality."
