Litalist, a peer-to-peer book recommendations website founded by Seni Glaister, former c.e.o. of The Book People, officially launches today (12th January) and will feature a new indie bestseller chart to reflect the titles that are most popular in bookshops and smaller online retailers.
The site, revealed by The Booskeller last month, will use machine learning to capture the “emotional quotient” of a book based on reader recommendations, and will enable booksellers to feature and sell books. Its new chart will also appear on the Litalist website every week.
To celebrate the launch, Litalist will be giving the first 500 users to sign up to the platform a free book from their wishlist shelf, as well as exclusive Litalist goodies.
Glaister said: “As a voracious reader, I know how wonderful it is to receive a book recommendation from someone whose taste you really trust. With Litalist, we have created a platform that helps you find just that – recommendations from people who react to different books in a similar way to you. This not only helps you build a community of like-minded readers, it may just lead you to your next favourite book.
”In addition to being a positive environment where you can share the books you love and find even more, Litalist is also a passionate supporter of bookshops, enabling booksellers to sell direct to you, even providing the option for you to collect your purchase instore. It helps readers discover books and booksellers discover readers. Everybody wins!”
