GMC Distribution (GMCD) has appointed Wiley as its new distributor, succeeding Orca Book Services.
The move takes effect from 1st September. Wiley will provide customer service, distribution and credit control functions across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world territories, excluding North America, for all GMC titles.
The move sees GMC leave Orca Book Services, which many publishers have reported ongoing problems with over the past year.
GMC’s client portfolio includes selected Penguin Random House US imprints such as Watson-Guptill, F+W Publications, Astra Publishing House and Blue Star Press as well as The Taunton Press and European publishers Tuva Publishing and Monsa Publications. In addition to the GMC Group’s own UK book division imprints GMC Publications, Ammonite Press and Button Books, they make up a list of almost 3,000 arts, craft and lifestyle titles for both adults and children.
Michael Robb, GMC Distribution sales director, said: “GMC Distribution is excited to be working with Wiley as our new distributor. We are very impressed by their operation and are sure it will provide the highest level of service to our customers and client publishers. GMC Distribution sells an extensive range of books across both traditional trade and specialist craft and gift markets so we are very optimistic about the future now we are working with such a fast and efficient distributor.”
Mark Vandeven, senior director for global distribution and logistics at Wiley, added: “Wiley Distribution is thrilled to welcome GMCD as our latest distribution client. GMCD is a leading distributor of adults’ and children’s non-fiction and lifestyle publishers. We are impressed by their portfolio of content, and we look forward to what we expect to be a successful partnership for many years to come.”
