Rose Green has been promoted to commissioning editor at Footnote Press, after joining the publisher as editor in October 2022.
At Footnote, Green has been responsible for commissioning literary fiction and non-fiction, including the novels Chlorine by Jade Song and Mongrel by Hanako Footman, as well as non-fiction titles Moving Mountains: Nature Writing through Illness and Disability edited by Louise Kenward and Hotel Lux by Maurice Casey.
She is also the editor for Camp! The Story of the Attitude that Conquered the World by author and academic Paul Baker, Yelena Moskovich’s new novel Nadezhda in the Dark, and My Child, the Algorithm by Hannah Silva, co-written with an AI.
Prior to Footnote, Green worked at Quercus’s literary translation imprint MacLehose Press, as well as at Persephone Books and as a bookseller at various indie bookshops.
She said: "I’m happy to be taking this next step in my career with Footnote, a team whose ambition, creativity and passion has been so inspiring during my time here. I’m looking forward to continuing to commission innovative, in-depth, genre-bending titles across fiction and non-fiction, and working alongside Fritha to shape Footnote’s trailblazing list."
Footnote Press editorial director Fritha Saunders added: "I have been impressed by Rose’s eye for a great book ever since I joined Footnote six months ago and I’m pleased to recognise her talents through this well-deserved promotion. She’s a valued and well-liked colleague whose ideas and hard work have all contributed to Footnote’s rapid growth and success."
