Literary agency Greene & Heaton will host a pitch event for unpublished writers from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
The Greene Door Pitch Event comes on the back of the success of the agency's open submissions initiative, The Greene Door Project.
Carol Heaton said: “We were delighted with the response to our Greene Door Project, and are eager to continue our efforts to help promote inclusivity in the industry at the Greene Door Pitch Event. We’re excited about the opportunity to reach out to more aspiring writers and hope that the event will demystify the role of a literary agent.”
The event is open to unpublished writers from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and will be held at The Bush Theatre in Shepherd’s Bush, London on Saturday 1st June 2019 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
In a statement, the agency said: “The Greene Door Pitch Event is an opportunity for aspiring writers to meet a literary agent, ask questions about seeking representation and the publishing process, and to discuss their work in a ten-minute one-to-one session."
Greene & Heaton added: "After the event, the attendees will be encouraged to submit no more than 50 pages of their work to us at greenedoor@greeneheaton.co.uk, and one author will be selected to receive detailed feedback on their work from one of our agents.
"Greene & Heaton is happy to offer a financial contribution to a limited number of writers who are on a low income, are receiving benefits, and who would not be able to attend the event without this contribution. Please see our website for more information on how to apply. Please see our website for more information about how to secure your place at the Pitch Event, and please contact Alisa Ahmed and Imogen Morrell at greenedoor@greeneheaton.co.uk with any questions."
