Robert Greer is leaving Prototype to join Profile Books in the newly created role of press officer.
Greer has been marketing and publicity co-ordinator at Prototype for a year, during which he has managed campaigns for books such as Emblem by Lucy Mercer and the novel Deceit by Yuri Felsen, translated by Bryan Karetnyk. Previously, he worked for more than two years at literary communications agency FMcM Associates, where projects included the British Book Awards, Rathbones Folio Prize, Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, Cundill History Prize and the Polari Prize.
Before working for FMcM, he also worked for literary journal the London Magazine as marketing executive and online editor, and before that, he worked for the bookshop and micro-publisher Desperate Literature in Madrid, where he co-founded the Desperate Literature Short Fiction Prize.
Greer, who will work across all Profile lists from 4th July, said: “I am incredibly excited to be joining Profile Books, a publisher that I have hugely admired for many years. During the interview process I was very struck by the passion and vision of everyone that I spoke to — I can’t wait to start working with their brilliant team and exceptional authors.”
Hannah Ross, Profile publicity director, said: “We can’t wait for Robert to join us at Profile and are more than confident he will produce outstanding campaigns for our books. He brings with him such a breadth of experience, creativity, and enthusiasm for our publishing, that there is no doubt he will be a real asset on what is already a remarkably strong publicity team.”
