Greg James and Chris Smith team up with National Literacy Trust to launch new series

The National Literacy Trust's new Author of the Week series will kick off with Greg James and Chris Smith, authors of the Kid Normal series.

Hosted on the charity's Family Zone, the series will spotlight different authors every week through exclusive videos and activities as well as free e-books and audiobooks to help families discover new stories together.

In the first week, James and Smith will challenge children to write their own superhero story, based on the duo's latest Kid Normal book, Kid Normal and the Final Five: Kid Normal 4 (Bloomsbury Children's Books).

As well as the video and reading activities, Audible are providing a free audiobook of Kid Normal, available on Family Zone.

Greg James and Chris Smith, said: "we’re delighted to be stepping in as everyone’s temporary teachers. Sit up straight! Stop humming! Spit that gum into the bin! We’ve put a little activity together that will hopefully get everyone’s imaginations buzzing and take some of the pressure off any slightly stressed parents out there."

The series will feature more big names like illustrator Axel Scheffler and author Katherine Rundell.
