Hachette Ireland has promoted Elaine Egan to publicity director from her current role as group PR after a "fantastic first year".
Egan joined the publisher in March 2018 after spending more than three years at Orion as senior publicity manager. Over the past year, she worked on a series of Irish publicity campaigns for local publishing division Hachette Books Ireland and the wider Hachette UK Group. Her campaigns included a push for The Skin Nerd by Jennifer Rock and Roisin Meaney’s bestseller The Anniversary.
She also masterminded the campaign for supervet Noel Fitzpatrick’s Listening to the Animals (Orion), which hit number one after she captured a video of him rescuing a Dublin swan. Egan was also behind the drive for Dr Harry Barry’s Emotional Resilience (Orion Spring), which spent six weeks at number one. Her support for Irish debut author Anne Griffin helped send novel When All is Said (Sceptre) to the top of the Irish charts.
Breda Purdue, group managing director for Hachette Ireland, said: “Elaine has a passion for publishing and a great commitment to author care. She has had a fantastic first year at Hachette Ireland and we are delighted to announce her well-deserved promotion which reflects and rewards her contribution to the success of books published by Hachette Books Ireland and the wider UK group.”
