Hachette UK has appointed Alexandra Cooper as group marketing director. She will take up the role in the new year, based at Hachette UK’s headquarters in Carmelite House, and will report to Maura Wilding, group communications director.
Cooper moves from her role as group marketing director at Little, Brown, one of Hachette UK’s publishing divisions. She is also co-chair of the Sustainability Network.
Cooper joined Little, Brown in 2014 as head of digital marketing and consumer insight and was promoted to marketing director the following year. Prior to joining Little, Brown she was digital marketing manager at Ebury Publishing.
In her new role, Cooper will establish and lead a central Group Marketing team at Hachette UK, "focused on developing and implementing innovative marketing strategies that drive sales across all formats".
The team will also work closely with the divisional marketing teams across Hachette UK, and with Hachette UK’s Consumer Insight team.
Cooper said: "I’ve had the most fantastic time at Little, Brown working with hugely talented colleagues and authors. Over the past 10 years I’ve seen first-hand how creative and brilliant the marketing teams across Hachette UK are, so I’m excited to build a central marketing team that can further empower and support divisional marketers to reach new readers and deliver even more for our authors."
David Shelley, c.e.o. of Hachette UK and Hachette Book Group US, said: "The creation of a Group Marketing team marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Hachette UK’s marketing strategy. With her wealth of skills and experience, Alex is the perfect leader to create and guide this new team."
