Hachette UK is to move its seven publishing divisions to a new London headquarters, following a deal signed last night (19th December).
The property at 50 Victoria Embankment, called Carmelite Riverside, will also house the company’s group departments.
At the moment Hachette UK is based at four separate London locations – Euston Road, its current head office and where publishers including Hodder & Stoughton are based; 100 Victoria Embankment, which is home to Little, Brown; Shaftesbury Avenue, where Octopus Publishing is based; and Upper St Martin’s Lane, home to Orion.
The company plans to move into its new building in late 2014 or early 2015.
Tim Hely Hutchinson, c.e.o., said: “Our seven publishing divisions have flourished in their separate London locations but now is the right time for us to come together under one roof.
“Our publishing thrives under our federal structure, which we will maintain, but being together in one building will facilitate even better communication amongst ourselves and closer access to key group departments including our Group Digital department, Consumer Insight and Brand Development.
“Carmelite Riverside is a beautiful building in a central location on a spectacular stretch of the Thames.
“It will be a great building to work in and to visit.”
Carmelite Riverside has offices across eight floors, and two roof terraces, plus two basement parking levels.
