Hachette staff across the UK have completed a 5km walk for the charity PAPYRUS: Prevention of Young Suicide.
The "Walk of Hope" coincided with the publication of Three Dads Walking (Robinson), which was released in hardback, e-book and audio on 4th April. It tells the story of Mike Palmer, Tim Owen and Andy Airey, who lost their young daughters to suicide and set out on a 300-mile journey across the country in their memory, raising over £1.2m for the charity.
“Suicide is the biggest killer of those under 35 in the UK," the three men said. "We only learned this terrifying fact because our daughters took their own lives. By raising awareness, we hope we can help prevent other families from being devastated by suicide."
Aimee Kitson, senior marketing manager at Little, Brown Book Group, spearheaded the Hachette charity walk. She said: “Hachette’s ‘Walk of Hope’ showed the three dads that Hachette is with them every step of the way as they continue their mission to raise awareness of suicide, to save lives and to encourage positive mental health. Walk leaders were in place in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Chichester and Bristol offices, and we asked colleagues to ready their hearts and legs for this amazing cause and walk together with colleagues."
The three dads will be setting out on a 500-mile charity walk across the UK on 17th April.
