Hannah Ladds has been promoted to head of film and TV at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency with immediate effect.
Since joining MMA in 2020 as a dedicated dramatic rights agent she has overseen numerous book-to-screen adaptations for the agency’s clients, including “Black Cake” by Charmaine Wilkerson which first aired on Hulu in November 2023 and sees its UK premiere on Disney+ on 31st January, and “The Doll Factory” by Elizabeth Macneal which was released on Paramount+ in November 2023, as was “The Burning Girls”, based on C J Tudor’s novel, starring Samantha Morton.
Ladds started her career in the TV industry at FremantleMedia where she worked in production on various shows including “Britain’s Got Talent”, “The Apprentice” and “Chewing Gum” before moving into drama and working at Carnival Films, and then to the film, TV and theatre department at David Higham Associates.
Ladds said: “I am so delighted to be taking this next step at MMA. The last three and a half years have been a whirlwind and I’m so proud of everything the film and TV department has accomplished in that time. Last year was an important year for us as it saw the release of three high-end television series based on our clients’ books, and we have more titles under option than ever before.
“This could not happen without the dedication, passion and outstanding literary taste of Madeleine and all my colleagues, the formidably talented authors they represent and the producers right across the industry who fall in love and champion their stories. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with all our authors and am so excited for this next season of book-to-screen adventures.”
Milburn said: “I am in awe of everything that Hannah has achieved since joining MMA in 2020. In just over three short years she has created a film and TV department that has a phenomenal output and success rate: three major releases at the end of last year, more titles under option than ever before, and collaborations with Oprah Winfrey and other similar high-profile personalities.
“Everything Hannah does is approached with limitless energy, smooth efficiency and an unbounded ambition for our authors and their incredible work. We are so excited to have her at the helm of the film and TV department.”
