HarperCollins Children’s Books has appointed Alice Moloney to its fiction editorial team, alongside promotions for Megan Reid and Lucy Rogers.
Moloney will join HCCB and Harper Fire as commissioning editor in July. At Usborne, she shepherded the likes of Serena Patel, Phil Hickes and A M Howell, as well as acquiring The Girl Who Couldn’t Lie by Radhika Sanghani at auction.
Reid, commissioning editor, is promoted to senior commissioning editor. Reid has quickly established an enviable list of titles across Harper Fire and HCCB, including Compass and Blade; the global graphic novel launch Brielle and Bear; and middle-grade tearjerker My Dog.
Rogers edits Hannah Gold, Adam Baron and Simon Stephenson, author of upcoming debut The Snowman Code, and has many Waterstones Children’s Books of the Month under her belt. In her newly expanded role as editor-at-large, she will target new acquisitions for the HCCB and Harper Fire lists.
Nick Lake, fiction publisher, said: "I am delighted to welcome Alice Moloney to the HCCB and Harper Fire team, strengthening our commissioning at a time of growth with her fabulous author care and hit-making eye. I am also happy to see the brilliant Megan Reid continue her stellar trajectory, buying the best and most exciting books for both lists, while managing our biggest brands with aplomb – and the increase in responsibility from Lucy Rogers gives us even more room to grow, with one of the most commercially-proven acquirers out there. Alongside editorial director Tom Bonnick, an established star, I believe this is the best and most passionate commissioning team in children’s books."
