HarperCollins has signed a deal with Marcus Wareing for Marcus Everyday, the publisher’s third book with the celebrity chef and restaurateur.
HarperNonFiction editorial director Katya Shipster struck the deal with Rosemary Scoular at United Agents. The book will publish on 31st October 2019.
“Taking inspiration from Marcus’ incomparable cooking career, his childhood experience in his father’s fruit and vegetable distribution business, as well as his role as a father of three, Marcus Everyday goes back to the chef’s roots,” the synopsis reads. “The new book will be packed with tips and tricks to arm readers with secrets from Marcus’ own kitchen – the techniques he intuitively uses at home that can transform a dish from being adequate, to being truly great. These include how to cook the perfect steak, how to make the ultimate roast potatoes, memorable mashed potato, and Marcus’ foolproof method for cooking omelettes, as well as what to do when things don’t quite go to plan.”
There will be eight “clever and varied chapters for every kind of day” including: My Garden Patch, Weekday Suppers, Waste Not Want Not, In the Fridge, Home Baking, Holiday Eats and Weekend Dining.
Wareing said: “I have massively enjoyed putting this book together. When I get home I don’t leave my cooking knowledge and chef principles at the door, they are part of who I am. So when we cook as a family we use good seasonal ingredients, handled with care, to get the best flavours to create dishes that we all enjoy. I hope the delicious recipes and fabulous images in this book, with some of my tips scattered throughout, will encourage others to cook from it every single day whether it’s a meal for one, a family dinner or a special occasion."
Shipster added: “I’m extremely proud to be working with Marcus Wareing on this very special book. In an age where the cookery book market isn’t just competing with other chefs or high concept books – but with the likes of Deliveroo, UberEats and Hello Fresh – we are seeing consumers turning time and time again to a trusted and expert voice in this space, and are guaranteed to cook something delicious and reliable for their family. Marcus’s recipes with his clever tips and tweaks are highly enjoyable to cook; a private masterclass with a Michelin starred chef. I will be personally cooking from this book for many years to come.”
HarperCollins acquired Marcus at Home in 2016 with New Classics published earlier this year.
