HarperCollins has reached a ‘tentative’ agreement with its union in the US, which has been on strike for 66 business days over contracts and pay.
The deal has been agreed to by representatives of the union and the company and includes increases to minimum salaries across levels throughout the term of the agreement, as well as a one-time $1,500 (£1,238) lump-sum bonus to be paid to bargaining unit employees following ratification.
The agreement was facilitated with the help of Todd Austin, commissioner, federal mediation and conciliation service. HarperCollins US reached an agreement with the employee union to engage an independent mediator “in the hope of clearing a path forward” in late January.
The tentative agreement is subject to ratification by the union membership. Once ratified, the contract will extend through to 31st December 2025.
More than 200 union employees from the editorial, sales, publicity, design, legal and marketing departments walked out on 10th November last year.
