Fleur Clarke has been promoted from publishing strategy director at HarperFiction to the newly created role of associate publisher.
She will continue to report to managing director and publisher Frankie Gray, and to serve on the HarperFiction board and the publishing leadership team.
As publishing strategy director, Clarke has overseen HarperCollins’ subscription box, the Locked Library, and has played a "pivotal strategic role" in preparing for the next phase of its growth, the publisher says, adding that she has also been instrumental in the continued success of Voyager and Magpie, as well as working closely with authors across the range of HarperFiction’s publishing.
In her new role, Clarke will work with Gray and the individual imprint publishers on divisional strategy across HarperFiction – Voyager and Magpie, The Borough Press, Hemlock Press, the Estates and commercial fiction lists.
She will have responsibility for creative direction within the editorial teams, working with editors to ensure every title has industry-leading pitch and positioning. She will also continue to head the Locked Library, as well as exploring new business opportunities across the division.
Clarke said: ‘’It is such an exciting time to be at HarperFiction, and I am delighted to be stepping into this new role as we look to the future. It’s a privilege to work with our incredible colleagues, authors and readers, and to help carry forward HarperFiction’s trailblazing legacy of showstopping publications.”
Gray commented: “HarperFiction is well known for its innovative brand publishing and its industry-leading, prize-winning debut publishing. As we look to the future and build on this legacy, striving for continued growth and excellence, I’m thrilled to appoint Fleur to this broadened strategic role.
“Fleur brings exceptional creativity and imagination to our publishing, and has had a marked impact on HarperFiction’s success over the years. She is uniquely placed, with her marketing expertise and her editorial passion, to ensure that we continue to lead the market in every area of our list and to publish our beloved authors with flair and ambition.”
