HarperFiction has acquired four novels from former journalist Debbie Johnson.
Commissioning editor Charlotte Ledger bought world English rights for two HarperFiction titles and world all language rights for two HarperImpulse titles in a six-figure deal from Rowan Lawton at Furniss Lawton.
Sales across all of Johnson’s titles with HarperCollins have exceeded half a million copies according to the publisher. She also won the Contemporary Romantic Novel of the Year Award at the RNA Awards last month.
Debbie Johnson said: “I'm absolutely delighted to continue working with the wonderful team at HarperCollins. They've given me all the support I need to grow as a writer, and I'm incredibly excited about what our future together might hold.”
Commissioning editor Charlotte Ledger said: “I fell in love with Debbie's writing the moment I read her first submission and it has been so exciting to see her grow into an award-winning, best-selling author. We're immensely proud of everything she has achieved and it's an absolute pleasure to continue working with Debbie on this new chapter in her career.’
The first book in the new deal will be published in summer 2018. HarperFiction first discovered through its digital-first HarperImpulse programme in 2015.
