Phoebe Morgan, currently editorial director at HarperFiction, will join the Hodder Fiction team in October 2022 as publisher of crime and thriller.
In her new role she will work alongside Kimberley Atkins, publisher for the General Fiction list, and Molly Powell, editorial director for the Hodderscape list. Morgan will join the Hodder main board and report to Jo Dickinson, executive publisher.
Dickinson said: “I have long admired Phoebe’s publishing, passion and proactive approach and I cannot wait to add her incredible energy and vision to the already dynamic Hodder fiction team.
“We have ambitious growth plans in place and I am absolutely delighted that Phoebe will join us to help bring them to fruition.”
During her time at HarperFiction, Morgan published authors including the likes of Abigail Dean, Catherine Cooper, Melanie Blake, Jane Shemilt and C L Taylor, as well as Stacey Abrams and Ashley Flowers.
She also brought Cara Hunter over to HarperFiction from Viking last year and was shortlisted for Editor of the Year at this year’s British Book Awards. She was a Bookseller Shooting Star in 2021 and won a London Book Fair Trailblazer Award in 2018.
In 2021 she organised Books for Vaccines, raising £60,000 for charity during the pandemic. She is also a published author and has written four novels, with a fifth coming in 2023.
Morgan said: “I have had a truly wonderful time at HarperCollins and will miss my brilliant authors and colleagues so much, but the opportunity to join Hodder at such an exciting time of growth for the company was one I could not refuse.
“I am thrilled to be working with Jo and the amazing Hodder team and will be very much on the look-out for more bestsellers in the crime and thriller space.”
