TikTok magician Joel M signs with HarperNonFiction

HarperNonFiction has signed TikTok sensation and professional magician Joel Mawhinney (Joel M) for Make Your Own Magic: Secrets, Stories and Tricks from My World which "pulls back the curtain and offers a glimpse into the life of a magician".

Publishing director Kelly Ellis acquired world all language rights from Shane Gillen at the Big & Bright artist and talent agency. The book will publish on 11th November.

The publisher said Mawhinney is one of TikTok's biggest stars with 10.4 million followers and over a billion views across his channel "thanks to his talent for trickery, sleight of hand card tricks and mind-blowing illusions".

In the book he delves into his own personal story, including why he turned to magic, how it helped transform his life and how it could do the same for readers too, while also touching on his favourite tricks, on-stage slip-ups and magical heroes. Readers are also encouraged to try their hand at magic with step-by-step instructions on how to perform your own tricks at home, including hypnotising your friends, predicting the future and other jaw-dropping stunts.
