Harvill Secker has appointed Katie Ellis-Brown as deputy publishing director for crime, thriller and crossover fiction.
Ellis-Brown joins on 13th December from Raven Books, where she was editorial director, working with authors Stuart Turton, Laura Purcell, Natasha Pulley, Katherine Faulkner, Femi Kayode and Rosie Andrews.
Prior to that, she worked at Trapeze, where she published bestseller Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams and acquired authors including Donna Douglas, Lia Louis and Sareeta Domingo. She also co-founded the All Together Network, which promotes the recruitment, retention and development of people from low socioeconomic status backgrounds and regional backgrounds within Hachette.
She started her career at Riot Communications and was shortlisted three times for the annual Publisher’s Publicity Circle Awards, before joining Headline and Tinder Press, where she worked on campaigns including the PPC award-winning One Pound Meals. She was named a Rising Star by The Bookseller in 2018.
