Laurence King Publishing authors Shaz Hassan and Ryo Sanada have launched Soi Books, a gift and stationary book publisher specialising in global street art and photography.
Soi Books, which is inspired by the Thai word for street, will publish between 15 to 20 titles a year. Its offices are based in Finsbury Park and runs on a hybrid working model as the three founders work in London, Brussels and Jakarta.
Street art, photography, illustration and urban art books will be the company’s focus, which “exists to share a creative viewpoint on subcultures, scenes, artists and, of course, stories,” the founders have said.
Hassan and Sanada spent years making documentary films and commercials before creating their Stickerbomb book series, which features graffiti illustrations and graphics from around the world. More than 10 Stickerbomb books have been released since 2008, with global sales in the reach of 500,000, according to the publishers.
Steve Aston, co-founder and former group creator partnerships officer of GetCraft, also joins Soi Books as the managing director, while Hassan takes on the role of editorial director and Sanada is design director.
Forthcoming books in 2023 include The Craft Beer Sticker Book, which will feature more than 200 peelable stickers from 40 craft breweries, in addition to interviews and features from leading craft beer brands.
