Laura Hassan is to leave her role as editorial director of Vintage Classics to join Guardian Faber, a new imprint created by Faber and the Guardian newspaper.
Hassan will be commissioning editor, focusing on developing the imprint, acquiring serious non-fiction, sports and lifestyle titles, and working alongside Guardian writers.
Sara Montgomery, head of Guardian Books said: "We have ambitious plans for the growth and development of the list and feel confident that Laura's previous successes as editorial director at Vintage, along with her infectious enthusiasm, will help secure an exciting and profitable future for Guardian Faber."
Julian Loose, publisher for arts and non-fiction at Faber, said: "Laura brings a wealth of publishing experience to this unique role, and we are excited by her energy and her ideas. She is the perfect person to build on the best of both the Guardian and Faber as she sets about creating a list of popular and innovative titles."
Hassan will start in the new role on 5th August.
