David Headley has launched a podcast exploring all aspects of publishing and book collecting in a bid to champion authors and demystify the publishing industry.
In "Confessions of a Book Collector", the literary agent and m.d. of Goldsboro Books will interview bestselling and upcoming authors, and share his own insights from his career. Hosted by Buzzsprout, it will be released bi-weekly and is available on all podcast platforms including Apple podcasts and Spotify.
In its first month the podcast hit number 56 on the Apple podcast charts and received more than 1,300 downloads, Goldsboro Books said.
Guests include S J Watson, author of debut Before I Go To Sleep (Black Swan), Araminta Hall talking about her latest book Hidden Depths (Orion) which will publish at the end of March, and writer and historical novelist Erin Young, who discusses her debut thriller The Fields (Hodder).
"There are so many brilliant podcasts out there, that I both listen to and enjoy; however I noticed that there was a significant gap in the market for podcasts centring on books, and the publishing industry – specifically from an ’insider’ point of view," Headley said. "This is where the idea for ’Confessions of a Book Collector’ was born. Books are my job, my passion, and my life. Nothing makes me happier than discussing books that have inspired me or touched my life in some way. Goldsboro Books is a company that I am extraordinarily proud of, and the podcast will feature the authors that we champion and sell."
The podcast will also seek to shed light on what goes into making a book, from signing an author to seeing the book in shop windows.
