Granta Publications has appointed Foyles' head of marketing Simon Heafield to a new role following a restructure of its sales and marketing team, triggered by the departure of sales, marketing and digital director Iain Chapple.
Heafield, who has worked at Foyles for a decade, is joining Granta as marketing manager after working his way up from a bookseller at Foyles, to head of marketing. He starts at Granta on Wednesday 14th March and will be contactable on sheafield@granta.com.
Heafield said he was "thrilled" and "awed" to be joining the publisher. “I’m thrilled to be joining Granta, and not a little awed by the privilege of getting to work on such a bold, thoughtful list with such a dynamic and talented group of people", he said. "I can’t wait to get started, and look forward to helping them share their brilliant publications with the world.”
Heafield will report to executive publisher Alex Bowler.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Simon to our brilliant, tireless, award-winning campaigns team", said Bowler. "His deep trade experience and creative skills will give us further muscle as we continue to connect the best new writing with increasing numbers of readers across every platform.’’
Katie Hayward, who was previously sales, e-book and operations manager, has been appointed sales manager and will now lead the department. She is supported by Morgan Williams, who has joined the company as sales and publishing assistant.
Meanwhile, campaigns manager Lamorna Elmer has been promoted to senior campaigns manager and Natalie Shaw has been promoted to campaigns executive from publicity assistant.
Both report to Pru Rowlandson, who continues as publicity director. Rowlandson, Hayward and Heafield report to executive publisher Bowler.
The new team will work across every aspect of the company – Granta Books, Portobello Books, Granta Magazine and Granta.com.
