Hodder & Stoughton’s adult and YA science fiction and fantasy list Hodderscape will become an imprint in March 2023.
The imprint will be led by Molly Powell – who was recently promoted to Hodderscape publishing director – with commissioning editor Natasha Qureshi also acquiring, supported by Sophie Judge, who has moved from Titan Books to become editorial assistant.
Hodderscape will publish young adult and adult science fiction, fantasy and horror and will be based within the Hodder Fiction division. Previously, Hodderscape titles were published under Hodder & Stoughton under no specific imprint bar "fiction".
The imprint will also have a dedicated communications team, with Kate Keehan managing PR and Callie Robertson and Laura Bartholomew across marketing. The Hodderscape logo below has been redesigned by marketing designer Sofia Hericson, and features Pickwick from Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next series.
Jo Dickinson, executive publisher, said: “The Hodderscape team, both past and present, has worked tirelessly to get us to this moment and this is testament to their incredible work, publishing vision and dedication, alongside the brilliance of our authors. Hodderscape is already a destination publisher and a warm and welcoming home for writers across the world and I can’t wait to see where the journey takes us next.”
Powell added: “Hodderscape has grown brilliantly since it was founded, and I am so excited to watch it blossom as an imprint. We have a fantastic team, and an incredible roster of authors and books, and the passion, dedication and imagination to become the destination home for science fiction and fantasy publishing in the UK.”
The new imprint was celebrated with the Hodderscape Winter Ball at Waterstones Tottenham Court Road last night (Tuesday 15th November), attended by authors, agents, booksellers, journalists and social media influencers from across the SFF community.
Guests at the launch were given exclusive proofs of Immortal Longings by Chloe Gong and debut Sing Me to Sleep by Gabi Burton, two of Hodderscape’s lead titles for 2023, as well as bespoke cocktails inspired by the forthcoming Sing Me to Sleep, Shanghai Immortal (A Y Chao) and Dragonfall (L R Lam).
