Hodder & Stoughton has announced a raft of hires in its marketing department, with four new roles created to “strengthen the skills and expertise within the team”.
Helena Fouracre will join Hodder & Stoughton on 17th June as head of marketing, working across the Hodder Fiction list and on some non-fiction launches every year, reporting to creative and marketing director Vicky Palmer. Fouracre is currently senior marketing manager at Orion, where she has worked since 2020. She has delivered campaign strategies for authors including The Hairy Bikers and Veronica Henry, as well as non-fiction writers including Joshua Fletcher and Emily English. Fouracre has also worked on début campaigns for Chloe Ashby and Kirsty Capes, with her campaign for Careless (Orion) having won her a Book Marketing Society award in the Début category in 2021.
In addition to this, Ella Young has been appointed senior marketing executive, and will join from Avon on 29th April, while Emily Harrison will be the team’s new marketing assistant, starting on 12th April following the promotion of Melissa Grierson to marketing executive in February.
Hodder is also recruiting for the new role of brand manager for Hodderscape and Special Editions. According to the publisher, this role will specialise in the planning and delivery of sales of special editions through specialist retailers and direct-to-consumer avenues.
The marketing department at Hodder & Stoughton is part of a “creative collective” comprising both the art and marketing teams, under the leadership of creative and marketing director Vicky Palmer. It will be run day-to-day by deputy marketing director Alice Morley — reporting to Palmer — who has been with Hodder for eight years.
“It has been an honour to go through the extensive recruitment process for the revitalised marketing department at Hodder, and I am delighted to be completing the team with such fantastic new colleagues,” Palmer said. “These hires ensure that Hodder Marketing is set up with clarity and expertise to best deliver creative, sales-driving campaigns, with a clear focus on communication and care at all levels of the business.”
Palmer added: “Helena is a hugely talented, creative and collaborative marketer and I know she will bring passion, commitment and energy to the team and her campaigns when she joins. We are excited to also welcome Ella and Emily in the coming weeks and we can’t wait to see them develop and grow in their new roles within our expanded department.”
This recruitment process completes a planned reorganisation of the Hodder’s new creative department, with all appointees to be in place across art and marketing by June 2024.
