Hodder Faith has created a new list for children from birth up to age 12, to launch with Bear Grylls' Soul Fuel for Young Explorers in October.
The Young Explorers list will publish books for children across a variety of genres for the John Murray imprint, with a focus on exploring the Bible, and exploring the Christian faith through stories and devotional resources. It will be headed by commissioning editor Ruth Roff, who has worked at Hodder & Stoughton for over a decade, and was previously at HarperCollins and the London School of Theology.
She said: "Launching a children’s list with Hodder Faith feels like an incredibly exciting but very natural step both for me personally and for the company. I want to curate a list where we can nurture a habit of reading good Christian books and enjoying exploring the Bible. Our name — Hodder Faith Young Explorers – resonates with that vision of helping children explore the Bible and their own faith through different genres. I’m really looking forward to the journey!”
Grylls' book offers reflections, accompanied by stories from his own life, and is illustrated by Patrick Laurent. Rights were acquired from Caroline Michel at Peters Fraser + Dunlop. The book follows Grylls' 2019 publication Soul Fuel: A Daily Devotional (Hodder & Stoughton), for adults.
Other titles to be published on the list this autumn include The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Paterson and The Laugh and Grow Bible by Phil Vischer.
Soul Fuel for Young Explorers will be released on 29th October.
