Hodder & Stoughton has signed a two-book series from US YA authors Kass Morgan and Danielle Paige, with The Ravens to be published in January 2021.
Commissioning editor Molly Powell acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Charlotte Bodman at Rights People, on behalf of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
The Ravens is described as a "thrilling, dark contemporary fantasy about a prestigious sorority of witches and two girls caught up in its world of sinister magic and betrayals".
Powell commented: "Individually, Morgan and Paige are outstanding writers; together they make an even more formidable team. The Ravens is a perfect 10 in every respect: intriguing characters, a complex, fascinating plot and wonderful writing that draws you in from the first word. With a unique magic system and themes focusing on sisterhood and working together, I’m over the moon to be publishing this novel in the UK."
Morgan said: "I’ve had the privilege of working with the team at Hodder for years and I’m consistently impressed with their creativity, dedication and unmatched ability to create YA crossover hits. I’m thrilled to welcome them to the Ravens coven."
Paige added: "I'm so happy that our sorority witches have found the perfect home at Hodder. I am so impressed by their list and I cannot wait to see what they do for our Ravens."
Morgan is the author of The 100 (Hodder Paperbacks, 2013) and Light Years (Hodder Paperbacks 2018). Paige has published the Dorothy Must Die series (HarperCollins, 2015) and Stealing Snow (Bloomsbury Children's, 2016).
