Hodder & Stoughton has made some changes to its fiction editorial team, making new hires of Noor Sufi and Molly Powell as commissioning editors for its crime and thriller and SFF lists, and promoting Kimberley Atkins (pictured) to publisher for Women's Fiction.
Noor Sufi, currently editor at Vintage, has been appointed as commissioning editor for the Crime & Thriller list. In her role at Vintage, Noor has worked across the Harvill Secker and Vintage lists with authors including Denise Mina, Jo Nesbo and Ruth Ware. She takes up her new role at Hodder in mid-April.
Jo Dickinson, publisher for the Crime & Thriller list, said: "We have exciting plans to expand our publishing and Noor will be instrumental in helping us to achieve them. She is a rising star in the industry and brings fantastic publishing instincts and a huge enthusiasm for the genre."
Sufi said: "I have loved working with the brilliant authors at Vintage and I will miss them hugely, but I am so thrilled to be joining Hodder’s incredible crime team. I have long admired their fresh and creative approach to publishing, and their wonderful array of authors. I am delighted to be taking on this new opportunity and I look forward to working with Jo Dickinson and the rest of the team."
Molly Powell has also joined Hodder as commissioning editor for the SFF list, replacing Sam Bradbury who has left to run the Del Rey list at Penguin Random House. Power was previously an editor with Jo Fletcher Books, and started at Hodder on 9th March.
Hodder SFF publisher, Oliver Johnson said: "I’m thrilled to welcome Molly to Hodder. She already has invaluable commissioning experience and knows our books intimately. She will immediately begin acquiring titles for our young, diverse SFF list to complement the outstanding authors already with us."
Powell said: "Although I’ll deeply miss my authors at Jo Fletcher Books, I’m truly excited to move to Hodder. The list is fresh, diverse and forward-thinking, and I have admired their thriving SFF community and creative publishing for years. I look forward to seeing what this opportunity will bring!"
Kimberley Atkins has meanwhile been promoted to publisher, Women’s Fiction.
Kate Howard, publisher General Fiction said: "Kim has acquired some wonderful books since she joined us in 2018, curating a women’s fiction list to be immensely proud of. She has acquired authors such as Isabelle Broom, Kate Thompson, Sarra Manning and Holly Miller, whose novel The Sight of You is set to be one of our biggest launches of the year, with foreign rights sold in 23 territories. She has also brought us exceptional debut novels from Harriet Walker and Bethany Clift. We are very happy to be able to give her this well-deserved promotion, and very much look forward to her future success at Hodder."
