Hodder Studio has inked a deal for comedian Rachel Parris’ book Advice From Strangers: Everything I Know From People I Don’t Know.
Publisher Myfanwy Moore bought British and Commonwealth rights from agent Sophie Chapman at Sophie Chapman Talent. Hodder Studio will publish the book on 17th March 2022 in hardback, e-book and audiobook.
The blurb for Advice From Strangers reads: “Over the course of a year award-winning comedian Rachel Parris asked members of her live audience for advice. They handed over their scribbled wisdom, and in this book she takes their suggestions – such as 'Be Kind' or 'Never Pass Up the Opportunity for a Wee' – and explores them in ways that are funny and serious, hilarious and heart-breaking.
“This uplifting feminist manifesto is an essential exploration of the challenges of modern everyday life — where Rachel deals with everything from tampons to Tories and from #hashtags to staying hydrated.”
Parris commented: “When I asked hundreds of strangers to give me their best piece of life advice, I didn't expect the results to be so wise, so funny, or so outright weird, or that their advice would inspire me to write a book. But here it is! I'm proud and excited to share this book, it is a real collaboration between me and my audiences. I hope you enjoy it.”
Moore said: “I’m so delighted to be working with the brilliantly talented Rachel Parris on her first book, where she has used advice from random strangers as a starting off point to explore contemporary society, social media and issues from the sublime to the ridiculous in a way that is funny, clever but also highly honest and moving.”
