Hodder has unveiled striking new covers for four classic Stephen King novels to coincide with the horror master’s new novel The Institute.
Published on 19th September, two days before the writer’s birthday, the new King of Halloween editions celebrate some of his most memorable female characters with Carrie, Misery, Rose Madder and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
The new editions come during a big month for King, whose new novel is released on 10th September. The Institute is set in “a place hidden in an old growth forest where kids with special talents – telepathy and telekinesis – are checked in... but don’t check out”.
Hodder’s marketing campaign for the new novel will see segmented activity tailored for different readers, from those who have been with him from the start to people just discovering his work through hit movies.
Hodder has also revealed four illustrations inspired by scenes from the novel which will adorn the endpapers in the first UK hardback print run. There will also be special editions for both Waterstones and W H Smith as well as an exclusive illustrated print and bespoke point of sale material for independent bookshops.
September will also see the international film release of “It Chapter Two”, starring Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader and Bill Skarsgård reprising his role as Pennywise. Then, on 31st October comes “Doctor Sleep”, starring Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson.
Hodder will be releasing new film tie-in editions of both It and Doctor Sleep ahead of the cinema release dates.
