Steven Cooper, currently senior publicity manager at Hodder & Stoughton, is joining Pushkin Press as publicity director.
Starting on 6th March, Cooper will report to Adam Freudenheim, publisher and managing director of Pushkin. He will be reachable on steven@pushkinpress.com.
Since joining Hodder & Stoughton from Waterstones in 2019, Cooper has devised publicity campaigns for authors including Peter Robinson, Vaseem Khan, Louise Penny, Jasper Fforde, Sara Sheridan’s The Fair Botanists, which was Waterstones Scottish Book of the Year 2022, and the forthcoming Death of a Bookseller by Alice Slater.
His work on Norman Scott’s An Accidental Icon was highly commended for a Publishers’ Publicity Circle award and he was a Bookseller Rising Star in 2018.
Cooper said: “I’m hugely grateful to all my authors and colleagues – especially the industry-leading publicity team – at Hodder for a fantastic four years. As my bookshelves can attest, the opportunity to move to Pushkin Press and work on their exceptional books is a real dream. The quality of their list, combined with the ambition of Adam and the team’s vision for the future, make this the perfect next step and I can’t wait to get started.”
Freudenheim commented: “Steven is absolutely the perfect person to lead our publicity team at this exciting time of continued growth for Pushkin across all our imprints. We can’t wait for him to bring his breadth of experience and long-standing passion for Pushkin titles to the team.”
