Heather Holden-Brown has announced that she will be stepping down from the HHB Agency in February 2024.
Previously non-fiction director at Headline, Holden-Brown founded the HHB agency in 2005. She will be succeeded by co-agent and friend Elly James, who since 2007 has taken on a wealth of bestselling authors including Rory Cellan-Jones, Louise Minchin, Mishal Husain and Sir Mark Rowley. James will become director and sole proprietor.
Holden-Brown says: “It has been an honour and a privilege to work with such talented and successful authors over the years, many of them first-timers, and to be a small part of their success. It has also been fantastic to work with many great publishers who have supported our clients above and beyond. The world of books has provided me with much fun and merriment too – the parties have been great! I feel extremely lucky that the agency will continue in Elly’s creative and brilliant hands.”
James says: “I’ve been extremely lucky to have worked so closely with Heather over the past 17 years. Her ‘leaving’ is bittersweet as I will miss her company and sage advice hugely but I know she will relish having time to invest in her many interests and friendships. I am excited to go into 2024 at the helm of HHB Agency with such a diverse, interesting and articulate group of authors to champion and am very proud to do so.”
