At Home with 4 Indies—the Facebook Live series spearheaded by four independent bookshops—is back with a new programme for June featuring authors shortlisted for The British Book Awards 2020, including Adele Parks, Caroline Criado Perez and Katherine Rundell.
At Home with the 4 Indies was launched in April by Sue Porter from Linghams Bookshop in The Wirral in association with Booka Bookshop, Forum Books and Bookish to provide literary inspiration and entertainment during the Covid-19 lockdown. Fellow indies, including Mr B’s, Main Street Trading, Bookbugs and Dragon Tales, have also supported the events.
Next month, authors shortlisted for The British Book Awards 2020 will be giving their time to support the indies and taking questions from readers in their local communities. Adele Parks will be joining fans on 8th June to discuss her latest book, Just My Luck (HQ), and Lies, Lies, Lies, which has been shortlisted for Fiction Book of the Year. Other authors include Caroline Criado Perez, who has been shortlisted for Non-fiction Narrative Book of the Year for Invisible Women (Vintage), speaking on 17th June, and Stacey Halls, whose first book, The Familiars (Bonnier Books UK), features in the Début Book of the Year shortlist, speaking on 3rd June.
Authors who have been shortlisted for Children’s Fiction or Children’s Illustrated Book of the Year, including Onjali Q Rauf, Katherine Rundell, and Andy Griffiths, will also be hosting events for younger readers.
Each of the authors will be giving a 30-minute talk about their books, followed by a Q&A with viewers. Full details can be found on the At Home with the 4 Indies Facebook page or on BookGig.
