Nosy Crow has signed a fiction title from a body-positive campaigner and a picture book by a début illustrator.
Senior commissioning editor Tom Bonnick snapped up world rights in all languages from Adam Gauntlett at PFD to Splash by model and campaigner Charli Howard. The Middle Grade title is about a girl who loves swimming, and touches on body dysmorphia, absent parents and childhood trauma. Howard shot to fame after she hit back at the modelling agency that sacked her for being "too fat", when she was a size 6/8.
Senior commissioning editor for non-fiction and activity Rachel Kellehar bought picture book Incredible Jobs You’ve (Probably) Never Heard Of by début illustrator Natalie Labarre, who recently completed a Children’s Book Illustration MA at Anglia Ruskin University. The "funny, quirky, contemporary look at a range of interesting jobs" was signed direct from the author and will be published in 2019.
